As the days lengthen and nature flourishes, April encourages us to leave behind winter's stagnation and welcome renewal. This month's focus is on awakening energy—bringing vitality to your body and mind through yoga and mindful practices.
In this post, we’ll discuss a yoga pose to invigorate your energy and a daily habit to aid rejuvenation, helping you feel lighter, clearer, and more in tune with spring's fresh energy.
Yoga Pose: Wild Thing (Camatkarasana)
Wild Thing is a heart-opening, energizing pose that boosts confidence and stimulates energy flow. It broadens the chest, opens the shoulders, strengthens the back, and enhances overall vitality.
How to Practice Wild Thing:
1. Start in Downward-Facing Dog.
2. Shift your weight onto your right hand and roll onto the outer edge of your right foot (similar to Side Plank).
3. Step your left foot behind you, bending the knee and placing the toes down.
4. Lift your hips as you extend your left arm overhead, arching back to open your chest.
5. Hold for 3-5 breaths, feeling the expansion.
6. Return to Downward Dog and switch sides.
Benefits of Wild Thing:
• Boosts energy by expanding the heart and stimulating circulation.
• Improves mobility by opening the chest, shoulders, and hip flexors.
• Encourages emotional release, making space for fresh, uplifting energy.
• Enhances creativity by tapping into your expressive, open nature.
Daily Habit: Morning Hydration & Lemon Water
After a night's rest, your body needs hydration. Drinking a glass of warm lemon water first thing in the morning helps flush out toxins, kickstarts digestion, and recharges your energy.
How to Make It:
• Squeeze half a fresh lemon into warm (not hot) water.
• Optionally, add a pinch of sea salt or a slice of fresh ginger for extra benefits.
• Sip slowly and mindfully before eating breakfast.
Benefits of Morning Lemon Water:
• Hydrates & refreshes your body after sleep.
• Aids digestion and promotes gut health.
• Supports detoxification by stimulating the liver.
• Enhances mood & clarity, setting a positive tone for the day.
Incorporating Wild Thing into your morning yoga routine and lemon or warm water as a daily habit can help revitalize your energy, open your heart, and transition into spring feeling refreshed and vibrant. Try adding these to your routine and observe how your body and mind respond!
